On Tuesday, February 20th, HCHD Foundation supporters
gathered at the River Oaks Country Club for the Jubilee of Caring.
This year's Chairpersons, Rose and Harry Cullen and Honorary
Chairpersons, Pam and David Ott, along with their friends, came
together to honor two individuals for their outstanding work and
commitment to the Harris County Hospital District and the
Foundation.
The Harris County Hospital District
Foundation presented the Ben Taub Humanitarian Award in memory of
Mr. Ben F. Love to his granddaughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Love Ross.
Mr. Ben Love was devoted to the Houston community. He understood
Houston’s desperate need for a healthcare safety net for its
residents and he was a champion of the Harris County Hospital
District from the very beginning. His service as a financial
advisor during critical times established the Hospital District
and helped make it what it has become today.
The Hospital District Foundation
presented the Hank Coleman Above and Beyond Award to Dr. Susan
Cooley King.
Dr. King's passion for the
Harris County Hospital District is contagious. An invaluable
asset to the Foundation Board, Dr. King has dedicated her time and
energy to fulfilling our mission. She is a true champion for
healthcare for the uninsured and underinsured in our community.
Thank you to the sponsors
and supporters for the Jubilee of Caring. Your support will
purchase an Ultrasound Machine for Imaging Services int he new
HCHD Outpatient Tower. This new tower will include
Diagnostic Imaging, Radiation Therapy, Breast Care Center for
Excellence and Specialty Clinics. This desperately needed
facility will help serve 100 times more patients annually and will
significantly reduce waiting times, allowing the District to
increase its efficiency in providing first-rate care.
