HOUSTON (Aug. 2, 2012) —Harris County Hospital District Foundation board chairman Henry J.N. Taub II and several of his fellow board members attended the Harris County Hospital District Board of Managers’ meeting on July 26 to present a check for $10 million. Accepted by Harris County Hospital District Board of Managers’ chairman Stephen DonCarlos, the check represents the first installment of more than $24 million that was raised by the Foundation in a five-year capital campaign, which was completed in March 2012.The campaign’s objective was to help finance the Smith Clinic, a new five-story outpatient facility that will offer patients specialty services when it opens this fall.
“The Harris County Hospital District Foundation is proud to support the great work of the Harris County Hospital District” said Taub. “Through our successful fundraising campaign, we are able to offer the hospital district needed funds to continue its work of providing high-quality healthcare. Our goal is to help the hospital district expand its delivery platform by aiding in the acquisition of facilities that offer patients appropriate care outside of a hospital setting.”
Named in honor of civic leaders Lester and Sue Smith, the Smith Clinic will offer patients specialty clinics and services previously offered at Ben Taub General Hospital. Among these are:
- Allergy
- Asthmas
- Breast Oncology
- Dermatology
- Gastroenterology
|
- Infectious Disease
